What Is the myLife UNISA Email Account?
Alongside myUnisa, every registered student is provided with a myLife UNISA email account. This email account is hosted on the Microsoft Office 365 platform and functions like a standard email address.
The myLife email account is used for:
- Official communication from UNISA
- Receiving newsletters and academic updates
- Accessing learning materials and announcements
- Communicating with lecturers and departments
Since critical information is shared through this email account, all UNISA students are required to activate and use their myLife email. It also allows students to access digital study materials while waiting for the delivery of printed textbooks, notes, or other resources.
How to Create a myUnisa and myLife Account
Many students struggle with setting up their myLife UNISA account for the first time. Before you begin, ensure that you have your student number and that you are officially registered with the university.
Follow these steps to create your account:

Visit the myUnisa homepage at https://my.unisa.ac.za/portal

Click on “Claim Unisa Login”

Enter your student number and click “Continue”

Provide your personal details, including:

How to Access Your myLife Email Account
To sign in to your myLife UNISA email account:
- Go to http://mylife.unisa.ac.za
- Enter your full myLife email address
- Enter your password
- Click “Sign In”
How to Reset or Activate Your myUnisa Password
If your myLife password is not working or has not yet been activated, you can reset it easily.
Steps to reset your password:
- Go to the myUnisa homepage
- Click on “My Admin”
- Select “Change Password”
- Complete the form to create a new password
Your new password will be used for both myUnisa and myLife services. During busy periods, it may take up to 30 minutes for the new password to become active on myLife.
